Frias to DL for Potomac

RHP Marcos Frias was placed on the DL for Potomac. 24-year old RHP Zach Dials has been added to the P-Nats roster. Dials was signed recently as a minor league free agent after five appearances for Toronto’s Double-A team in New Hampshire. All his appearances were in relief.

Derek Norris Placed on DL

MiLB.com’s transactions have Potomac CA Derek Norris placed on the 7-day DL and replaced by OF Michael Guerrero from extended spring training.

I’m trying to figure out the duration of his DL stay

Update: InsideNoVa had the news a couple of hours ago.

Roster Moves

Cleaning up the Big Board some.

  • Syracuse – Added RHP Andrew Brown ostensibly to replace RHP Garrett Mock who went on the DL instead of reporting to the Chiefs … Chiefs are at a full 24-man
  • Harrisburg – Sent UTIL Dan Nelson along with RHP Adrian Alaniz (who was not on the Senators active roster) to Potomac … Senators are at 23/24
  • Potomac … placed RHP Robinson Fabian, OF Nick Moresi, UTIL Nick Arata, and OF Boomer Whiting on the DL. Added Nelson & Alaniz from Harrisburg along with OF Chris Curran and IF Wilberto Ortiz … full 25-man roster

No word yet on the variety of injuries

Minor League Rosters

Spoke with the Nationals and was told that minor league rosters will likely be announced this weekend. I’ll keep everyone posted on the information and post it once I receive it.

An Updated Big Board

full of guesses.

I have had a few comments over the past couple of weeks asking who will be assigned to what levels in the minor leagues. Over the past couple of days, I attempted to make an educated guess and this is what I came up with.

There is an overabundance of arms that need to be assigned (and I still didn’t find a home for Josh Smoker or Colton Willems in full season ball).

Let’s use this as a jumping off point. Feel free to critique, criticize or tell me I’m nuts.

P-Nats Headed to Fenway

The Potomac Nationals will be playing a game at Fenway Park on July 10. The Boston Red Sox have been playing the Futures at Fenway for the past five years, giving Red Sox fans a chance to see some of the team’s top prospects.

It’s something that I hope the Nationals will adopt themselves some time in the near future. With Harrisburg, Potomac, & Hagerstown as close as they are, it makes sense. I’ve asked Nats President Stan Kasten about this and he understood my interest in the game but was not sure there would be enough fan interest.
