Would have loved to be a fly on the wall when they tried to decide between Colome and Wells. Not sure I would have picked the same guy; not sure that it matters, both have to go.

Why not dump Colome and bring back Bergmann too? I think we hold onto Hanranhan since he would be picked up off waivers, but the Wells and Colome are just losses waiting to happen….

Why not cut Hanrahan, he’s the worst of the bunch. Good news about Clippard though.

I don’t understand why anyone thinks Hanrahan is so valuable. As a starter in 07 he had a 6.00 era, a 1.90 whip, less than a 5ip per start average and 6.7 walks per 9. So far this year he’s showing similar numbers in a relief role, which is worse. He was a 6-yr minor league free agent when we got him, and there’s no reason to think he’s anything more than that.
Next: Colome out, Bergmann back up.

Will be Colome and Hanrahan be far behind?

I hope not.
Not to get too far ahead, but Clint Everts (despite his last game) really looks like he’s “back.” September callup?

I could buy Everts in Sept. call-up.

Glad Clippard finally got the chance not sure why it took so long? Is it that hard to learn how to become a reliever? Colome is a long list of relievers who were over used and burned out ie Rivera, Ayala, Rauch. This is a trend now in the MLB protect your high dollar starters burn out disposable noncloser relievers. If Hanrahan gets his slider over consistently to keep the batters honest (something he hasn’t done this year) he is a low end reliever. If he learns to control both pitches he becomes a high end reliever. I do not think he will ever have that control and I defiantly don’t think he will every have the mindset of a closer. When Olsen comes up (and he will whether you want him to or not) someone will need to be sent down. Stammen intrigues as a bullpen arm throws strikes and has a “good” sinker and can pitch once through a line up, and then you can DFA Colome.
