Jesus Valdez, Carolina League Batter of the Week


For the third straight week, a member of the Potomac Nationals was named the Carolina League Batter of the Week. OF Jesus Valdez joins UTIL Dan Nelson (last week) and 1B Chris Marrero (two weeks ago) as P-Nats named batter of the week.

Over the period of July 27 through August 2, the 24-year old Valdez hit 0.565 and slugged 0.782 with three RBI and six runs scored

    It looks like they put Mattheus on the 40-man though?

    He was on Colorado’s 40-man so had to be added or put through waivers, I believe. Since he’s out long-term, then can move him to 60-day once they need a roster spot

    Looks like they still only have 39 on the 40-man? Is that true?

    Periculum: The Nationals currently hold 41 players on the 40-man roster – T.Young & Bernardina are both on the 60-day DL list, so 39 players net against the 40-man cap. Mattheus (or Flores) can only go to the 60-day if the team fills the 41st spot first.
