    Wow, breaking out the bats

How did burgess steal home? Was it a straight steal? or did somebody get in a rundown?

Looking at the recap, I’d guess a delayed double steal, but can’t be sure: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=g_log&gid=2009_07_07_potafa_myrafa_1&did=t436&sid=t436

After just 12 games in the GCL, Destin Hood has already improved and almost matched his production in the GCL for 2008 when he played 25 games. So far, he has improved dramatically. With just half the games played, he has a higher BA, more HR’s, almost the same RBI total, much higher OBP, SLG and OPS. He’s young, but producing as he should at this point. Do I see a promotion to Vermont? Not neccesarily until next year.

Hood is a guy Id definitely take it very slow with. He’s behind a bit because of his football commitment in high school but he’s coming around. It’s better to get him work at the lower levels and build his confidence and spend more time on the fundamentals that advancing him too quickly. Confidence is a big thing, and let’s let him build some up in the gulf coast before he gets the promotion to Vermont.

Graham Hicks’last outing last Thursday was an improvment over his previous outing. He allowed 1 run and won 4-2. His command of his pitches improved allowing 3 hits with 5 so and 2 walks. He is scheduled to start tonight and we hope he will build on the successes of his last start.
