Sometimes a game can turn on just one swing or one pitch. On Thursday night, it was both for Potomac… LNIW: http://bit.ly/cG8jqb

When was the last time the Nats and all their affiliates won in the same night? Ever?

    Sue,

Baseball in the minors! Beno is a new name to me. Is he a real prospect?

  4. #4 by Brian Oliver - May 14th, 2010 at 09:08

Beno was a 2007 36th round draft pick. He’s one of those guys who could turn into a middle reliever.

    Steve Souza strikes again!

And Brad Meyers looks like the real deal. He may even have more than #5 starter potential. Thoughts from anyone that’s seen him in person? His periphs looks very nice.

Speaking of suspensions, Patrick McCoy & Justin Phillabaum still out? They must have been really bad boys.

AlexVA – Both were actually reinstated and sent to Vermont (extended spring)

  8. #8 by Sue Dinem - May 14th, 2010 at 10:04

@AlexVA – They were recently reassigned to Extended Spring Training (a.k.a. Vermont) and without getting into specifics, my spies say that their conduct was unbecoming to the organization.

@Chris – Saw him last Saturday and looked pretty good, though this start and last were against the two weakest hitting teams not named Harrisburg.

@Sec204 – Beno’s been, to put it mildly, inconsistent but shutting down a team like Winston-Salem is no small feat.

Thanks Brian. NATS, as last night showed, can never have too many of those. I believe Meyers is the real deal. Hope, I am right.

Thanks to you too Sue. Your post was’nt up when I last post.

    Brian/Sue, thanks.

Looks like Smoker got skipped in the Suns’ rotation. Is this related to his ejection?

  12. #12 by Brian Oliver - May 14th, 2010 at 10:34

AlexVA – I was told Rob Wort was added to the Suns roster temporarily replacing Smoker

Any word on rehab assignments for Detwiler, Wang & Flores? Detwiler should be soon, but I haven’t heard a peep.

Here’s what I thought of a Brad Meyers start last May in Woodbridge.

His AA numbers so far this year have to put him on the prospect radar.

Foe those of you who are interested Mike Daniel was signed by the Braves and assigned to Myrtle Beach.

  16. #16 by Souldrummer - May 14th, 2010 at 15:11

Glad to see that Mike Daniel landed on his feet. He certainly deserves to keep playing baseball, and you hope he makes it to The Show (but not long enough to hurt the Nats or anything).

@ Bill – thanks for the update on Mike Daniel, good luck to him!

  18. #18 by Souldrummer - May 14th, 2010 at 16:51

You can see what Braves fans feel about our signing of Daniel here: http://www.talkingchop.com/2010/5/14/1472122/braves-add-outfielder-mike-daniel.

It was certainly time for him to go. Harrisburg couldn’t hit, he was part of the problem, and he was just organizational filler that it would we would be demeaning and sending back to high-A. Plus we’re starting to show some potential in guys who could earn promotions to Potomac at some point this year.

Brian, what happened to Graham Hicks?

  20. #20 by Toast - May 14th, 2010 at 18:40

Brian, what is the timetable for Mock?

  21. #21 by Souldrummer - May 14th, 2010 at 19:30

@AlexVA I’m listening to the Suns broadcast of McGeary’s start. “Smoker’s on the DL No timetable for his return.” [paraphrase]

What is going on with our second round pick last year? The second baseman whose name is Jeff Kobernis or something.
