Everts to Syracuse

MiLB.com transactions confirm that RHRP Clint Everts has been promoted from Harrisburg to Syracuse. The 2002 #5 overall pick has made his way from High A Potomac to Double-A Harrisburg to Triple-A in 2009.

After falling off of the prospect map over the last two to three years, Everts has resurfaced as a potential option out of the bullpen.

No word on who he will be replacing in Syracuse, who has a full roster. RHRP Drew Storen will replace Everts on the Senators roster but given the demotion of IF Greg Veloz from Harrisburg to Potomac, the Senators remain one player short.

It would be nice to see Clint get a September call-up to DC.

Would love to see Everts make the long climb to MLB baseball after 8 seasons of toiling in the minors.

I believe Everts needs to be placed on the 40-man this year or he becomes eligible for the rule 5 draft. All of that translates into a September call-up provided he pitches well in Syracuse.

Everts was Rule 5 eligible last off-season so he’ll be again this off-season. Actually, if my math is right, Everts will be a minor league free agent at the end of the 2009 season

    You’re 100% right Brian – my bad.

Any word on who will fill the 25th spot for the PNats? This Veloz/Storen swap doesn’t change the fact they’re a player short of a full roster.

SueD- Nothing yet. The Storen move still isn’t official

I think that Everts is the 24th man at Syracuse. Eldred is still on the DL. I think I saw somewhere that Nanita was ready to come back to Harrisburg – maybe that’s the move. Is King perhaps ready to come off the DL for Potomac?

Ric – Thanks. Eldred was on the DL and Nanita was activated

Yahoo Sports just announced minor league pitcher Stephen Englund has been suspended for 50 games under baseball’s minor league drug program after testing positive for an amphetamine.

Wow engulund was suppose to be the real deal. I believe he done anyway considering the pos change. Congrats to storen and everts. Love to see both in the MLB this year

two rapid fire subject questions: Does Ricardo Nanita project higher than Mike daniel as a 25 man roster back-up outfielder with LH sock down the road?? Infield DP future? Gonzalez battles demond while brass tinkers with Davis, Veloz or dan nelson down the road???? Just questions in the late season shadows. also, Rizzo would enjoy a vet to lend lannon 175 IP in 2010. hmmm: Pavano? Brian bannister? lightning in abottle with Noah Lowery? Dontrelle Willis resurrection??? Wednesday wonderings. go, PotNats!

Who scouted Englund? Did he end up having an allergy to wooden bats or something? I haven’t followed him much since he was drafted but he seemed to bomb out immediately. Now he’s back at GCL trying to learn how to pitch, now suspended for the rest of this year and the first month or so next year?

Unless he’s a knuckleballer, I can’t imagine this transition working.
