Re: Norris – If only the kid could field the position (12E & 14PB in 79 game appearances (20+ of those were as a DH). YIKES!! Although he seems to have an arm (36.3 CS%). Maybe jump him to AA & let him work with Stearns on the finer points of catching & calling a game.

Is Norris enough of a hitting prospect to move to another position?

  3. #3 by RD - July 8th, 2009 at 20:27

I might be changing my tune about Norris. I was of the opinion that we should take it slow with the guys at the lower levels, and I still believe that.

Norris may be the exception, especially considering how he’d fit in at Potomac. With Espinosa, Marrero, and Burgess a part of that lineup, he would have some real hitters surrounding him. There wouldn’t be a lot of pressure making the jump to high A with that talent around him. You could either have him split time between C and DH with Rooney, or promote Rooney to Harrisburg.

Cole, I was thinking the same thing myself. If he’s going to hit this well, I’d be interested in seeing him get some time at 1B because it looks like he’s a stronger hitting prospect than Marrero and he can’t be worse defensively. –SD

I’m trying to figure out why they are still pitching to Norris. Do they not pitch around players in low A ball? If you hit as well as Norris they will make a position for him. I’m for slow development but as long as they can give him the at bats he should be moved up. You can get better by facing better competition . He may not have the tools or experience to be catcher in the mold of B.J. Surhoff but it is not unheard of to be in A ball at 20 and the majors by 22.

I still can’t believe we(Nats) have a true prospect in our system(with superstar written all over him). I think if he was moved to 1B, he could be our Albert Pujols. I think he will be that great of a hitter.

I love reading the Gluvna piece. Nat’s Farm is the best. I really appreciate the effort here. I think many people enjoy it. Can anyone comment on the major league potential of Seth Bynum and Lombardozzi, our two hot 2B?

Gluvna really brought his A-game this week. “Curious Jorge,” and “Right Engles” are solid. “Cleggs and Eggs,” may be up in the all-time list of Gluvnisms.
