Just out from the Senators
The Harrisburg Senators announced today that RHP Zack Segovia has been promoted to AAA Syracuse and INF Matt Whitney has been activated from the disabled list. In addition, RHP Brad Meyers has joined the Senators from Potomac and RHP Matt Avery has been released.
The movement of Segovia to Syracuse coincides with the release of RHP Preston Larrison from the Chiefs.
Avery was acquired from the Cubs in the off-season in exchange for 2005 draft-and-follow signing Ryan Buchter.
The moves leave the Senators with a full roster.
The expected move in Potomac to fill Meyers’ roster spot is the activation of OF Jesus Valdez from the DL.

I like dumping Avery and good to see Whitney back (who is putting together a nice year).
Meyers deserves the promotion, no doubt.
So Brian what do the AAA/AA/A rotations look like:
AAA: Martin / Balester / Mock / Martis / Estrada
AA: Chico / Arnesen / Van Allen / Meyers / Martinez or Jones or Atilano or Alaniz
A+: Mandel / Milone / Atwood / Engles (and then maybe Frias or Willems)?

So will Meyers get the start against Bowie Thursday afternoon, I wonder? It would be pretty cool to have seen his last start in Woodbridge (on July 4) and his first as a Senator.

DJ – Syracuse sounds right. I’d say Alaniz is the choice of those four in HBG. My guess is the P-Nats make another move when they need the 5th SP …

DJ: In SYR, you still have Ramirez to consider in the starting rotation – he’s their only LHSP for the time being. In HAR, some changes are coming – Chico has to either get “stretched out” as a SP, or move to a RP-role; My take on the rotation would be Jones / Arnesen / VanAllen or Chico / Atilano / Meyers, with Chico & Alaniz moving to the bullpen, or one of VanAllen / Alaniz dropping to POT. The P-Nats will either catch fallout from HAR, or pickup Pena as a 5th SP off of rehab in HAG. With an off on the 6th, they’ve got a couple of days to make a move.
