DraftWatch 05/01/09
Here is this week’s DraftWatch spreadsheet. Of note, UNC is off for exams this weekend, do White and Ackley will be idle.
All of the starters except Railey go today/tonight (Railey went last night).

Here is the updated DraftWatch spreadsheet in preparation for this weekend’s action. All of the starts except Oliver are scheduled to go tonight. Of Note, Poythress had a big week with three home runs over two games.
Baseball America (BA), PG Crosschecker (PGCC), and MiLB.com are ramping up their draft coverage in preparation of the June 9 draft. It’s good reading for those interested. Here are some highlights:
Once again, Dick was kind enough to pull together the season statistics for the players on the DraftWatch spreadsheet.
Strasburg continues on his otherworldly season with a 17.2K/9IP and 10.1 K/BB ratio. Pitchers would love to have a 10.1 K/9IP ratio let alone their strikeout to walk ratio. Strasburg is still ahead of the NCAA record for strikeouts per 9IP. Nationals farmhand and former Reds first round draft pick Ryan Wagner had 148 in 79.33 IP (16.8K/9IP ) as a releiver for the University of Houston back in 2003.
Here are the results for the DraftWatch for the weekend. A solid set of outings by the SP options with Strasburg, Gibson, White and Leake leading the way.
Attached is the spreadsheet detailing the DraftWatch players. I have updated the spreadsheet with some new players (a couple of draft eligible sophomores along with a couple of new names). The players added were culled from Baseball America’s updated top 50 players, there are now 12 arms and 12 bats (though one player is listed as both an arm and a bat).
All but Oliver are scheduled to start tonight (Stoffel is a reliever).
