LHP Scott Olsen was scheduled to make a rehab start but was scratched to allow him to pitch for the Nats on Thursday. RHP Shairon Martis did not do very well in his spot start, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks over 3 1/3IP in Syracuse’s 8-5 loss to Indianapolis, the seventh straight loss for the Chiefs (box/gamer). RHP Adam Carr gave up two hits and struck out four over 2 2/3 innings of relief. 1B Jason Botts was 2/4 with a double & RBI; SS Seth Bynum was 1/4 with a solo homer; 3B/LF Pete Orr was 2/4 with a double; and CA Carlos Maldonado was 3/4 with a double & solo homer.  Notes: LHP Victor Garate was placed on the DL; LHP Jesse English will undergo season ending elbow surgery; RHP Tyler Walker will undergo season ending shoulder surgery; English and Walker can be placed on the 60-day DL to open up 40-man spots, if necessary; IF Pedro Lopez was suspended for 50 games for testing positive for a banned substance; in an interesting note at the end of the article on Lopez, the Nationals would not comment on whether Chris Duncan is still part of the organization.

LHP John Lannan allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over 5IP while striking out four as Harrisburg fell 4-3 at New Hampshire (box). LHP Chuck James provided three innings of no-hit shutout relief, striking out five. SS Danny Espinosa was 2/5 with a double, run & two RBI; 1B Chris Marrero was 0/4; LF Marvin Lowrance was 1/3 with a triple & RBI; CA Jhonathan Solano was 1/3; 3B Adam Fox & 2B Josh Johnson were both 2/3 with a walk, double & run scored. Notes: OF Edgardo Baez was activated from the DL

Potomac fell 8-2 to Wilmington (box). RHP Trevor Holder threw five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out five. RHP Jimmy Barthmaier took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk over just 1 1/3 innings. LF Robby Jacobsen was 3/3 with a walk & RBI; 1B Tyler Moore was 1/4 with a double & RBI; 2B Dan Lyons was 2/4 with a double & run scored; RF Mike Burgess was 1/3; and CA Derek Norris was 0/3 with a run scored. Notes: RHP Pat Lehman was activated from the DL.

Hagerstown walked off with a 5-4 win against West Virginia (box). RHP Paul Demny gave up four runs on six hits over 6IP with seven strikeouts and RHP Rob Wort earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three. 2b Jeff Kobernus was 2/4 with a stolen base (#21), run & RBI; SS Rick Hague was 2/5 with a double & two RBI; LF Destin Hood was 3/5 with a stolen base, double & solo homer; DH J.P. Ramirez was 0/3 with the game-winning sacrifice fly; RF Marcus Jones was 1/4 with a double & run scored; and CF Eury Perez was 1/3 with a stolen base (#39) and run scored.

The GCL Nationals lost 7-5 to the GCL Mets (box). RHP Kelvin Lopez took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks over 4IP. LHP Nick Serino struck out three over 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. 2B Adrian Sanchez was 2/5 with two stolen bases & two RBI; LF Angelberth Montilla was 2/4 with a double & run scored; RF Wander Nunez was 2/4 with a triple & run scored; and DH Rick Hughes was 2/4 with a stolen base & RBI.

Today: GCL Nationals LHP Gregory Baez (0-2, 6.06) at GCL Astros 12PM

The DSL Nationals were swept by the DSL Orioles2 in a doubleheader, losing game one 4-1 (box) and game two 4-2 (box). In game one, RHP Silvio Medina allowed four unearned runs on ten hits and a walk over nine innings while striking out five. CF Edgardo Gonzalez was 1/2; DH Paul Chacin was 1/3; CA Bill Pena was 1/1 with a stolen base & run scored; RF Aladin Reyes was 1/1 with a stolen base & RBI; and 1B Victor Chavez was 1/3 with a double. In the second game, RHP Wirkin Estevez gave yp four runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk over 7IP with eight strikeouts. CF Juan Pena was 1/3 with two RBI; 3B Bienvenido Valdez was 2/3 with a run scored; and RF Narciso Mesa was 1/3.
