Brian, correct me if I am wrong. But, I believe there is a date when the rosters have to be set for the post season just to prevent doing what Sue suggested.

Mid-90 fastball without movement is very hittable by professional hitters (Cuba vs Netherlands). But, it is very affective against college hitters. Mid-90 fastball with movement is not. This has been Detwiller’s problem especially as a lefty. Nat’s PD is working hard to get him movements and two more pitches to go with the fastball.

I'd imagine that unless there is a clear injury is going to happen sort of thing, the tweaks should be minimal

But then again, the way they break down deliveries with stop-frame analysis, us non-experts can only guess.

Thanks Brian – just trying to match what I read with what I see.

How likely are pitching coaches going to try and change his delivery – more toward the plate and not across his body. Adjustments can take time and impact the pitcher’s effectiveness. On someone with this talent level, do they just give him a pass?

Scott - You would likely be in a small group with that assessment.

He has a mid-90s fastball, plus breaking pitch, and developing slider. He keeps that speed late into games. In his game with 23 strikeouts, I recall reading that he was still sthrowing 90+ at the end of the game.

Strasburg is not looking like a world beater against Cuba. It is my first time seeing him. He throws across his body and is falling toward first after the pitch. He certainly could be having an off day but he seems to not have great command at the moment. Cuba might be some of the better competition he has ever faced.

Brian, do you happen to know what the scouts like about him. They obviously see much more than my untrained eye.
