A gazillion mock polls and a gazillion different results. Just proves what a crap shoot the draft is. Bottom line is the higher a player gets drafted the more bucks he gets and the more opportunities to succeed/fail. The key for every player is to just get drafted and then get a chance to prove themselves (and avoid injuries). Ask over half of all major leaguers.

From Baseball America I saw the following rumbling

The White Sox have been linked to Arizona State’s two-time Pac-10 triple crown winner, Brett Wallace, at the No. 8 spot, but the Sox may be more interested in another Pac-10 lefthanded hitter. Chicago farm director Alan Regier was given extensive scouting duties in the wake of Dave Wilder’s firing. Regier, a former assistant coach at California, is the godfather of Stanford catcher Jason Castro. Regier’s recent promotion to the scouting side has fueled speculation that Castro, whose profile is similar to Chicago’s current catcher, A.J. Pierzynski, could be the Sox’ pick.

While there is no guarantee that is even remotely legitimate (I wouldn’t bet the farm on it). Combining that rumor with the Lawrie to Cincinnati rumors would mean the Nationals could very likely see Gordon Beckham, Aaron Crow, and perhaps Kyle Skipworth (or Eric Hosmer) all available when the select.

That’d be a pretty interesting (and tough) choice. I’ve been wanting Beckham to fall but haven’t considered those others also being on the board.
