DeLaughter just changed positions last year in the middle of the Vermont season; at that time, he was reassigned to the Gulf Coast League. The position change basically means that he's starting over. I've not seen any reports about whether the change is taking, but as you say, during his draft year, people thought he had promise as a pitching prospect. Hope for success.

Freda, thanks for the update.
Hard to believe Delaughter is still in short season, after 4 seasons!
Must not be considered much of a prospect.

dd - At the end of spring training, DeLaughter was due in camp once the other players left for full season teams. As far as I know, he is in extended, but I have not talked to anyone to confirm this. I am heading to extended on 5/16

Gary, I'd guess Desmond will be here all season. And if not all season, then until at least late in the season. There's no reason to "rush" him to Columbus. He was only here a few weeks two years ago and he needs to play here every day and just get more comfortable, make the appropriate adjustments, etc.

As for Maxwell, he too, I would guess will be here most if not all season.

Saw Ian Desmond @ Harrisburg on the 18th. Liked what I saw. So, when does he go to Columbus (and after that, Washington)??
Also, any chance of Justin Maxwell making a return trip to the bigs this year??

Anyone know where Ryan Delaughter is?
He was drafted out of HS in the same draft as Maxwell.
Scouts were impressed with his cannon arm, and the Nats were trying to convert him to a pitcher after a failed attempt in the outfield.

Some reports on him at draft time:

Alan Matthews (BA): I like Delaughter on the mound, personally. His best tool is his arm strength and if shows an ability to control his fastball, which touches the mid-90s, and better control a breaking ball, he could be drafted anywhere from the second to fifth round.

On Scout.com, they rated Delaughter, “best untapped talent” and “best outfield arm” in September 2006.

Is he still in the Nats organization?
