Hope this link works but it looks like this almost officially closes the door on Norfolk. Richmond! Richmond! Richmond!

The Pulaski for Vermont swap was something I thought about as well. It moves the Jays into the NY/Penn league with the Red Sox, Orioles, and Yankees in a "rivalry" type of thing.

As for the Richmond/Nats connection. I didn't want to throw that into the mix because it seemed to even further muddy the waters. But you're right, moving the Braves to Charlotte, Nats to Richmond, Orioles to Scranton (vice Norfolk ... I just don't see the Mets moving), and ChiSox to New Orleans would make some sort of sense. Which means it will likely never happen.

Given what we know about P Angelos, I would expect him to try to move his AAA team to Norfolk if that site is up for grabs. They have always had a TV presence down there and a decent base of fans.

If you're going for SW Virginia then Richmond helps tremendously. We get Charlotte from the ChiSox and then switch Charlotte with the A-Braves. Another thing to increase our exposure in that area is to get a team in the Appalachian League. How about switching Pulaski for Vermont with Toronto?

This is just like the silly season in NASCAR!

The Norfolk situation would be good, but I've said for a long time that I'd like to have Charlotte for marketing / territorial domination. Can you imagine if we got Norfolk (yay! still better than being so far from New Orleans) and then the Orioles got Charlotte? The Nats' market would go straight down the East Coast (as it already kind of does), but the Orioles market would overlap Virginia on its way to Charlotte.

Ideally, the Nats would be able to exponentially increase their presence in southwestern VA towards the Charlotte market.
