The MiLB transactions have been updated for today and include LHP Jack McGeary being sent from Hagerstown to Vermont. Update: LHP Josh Smoker has been activated from the DL, replacing McGeary on the roster.
No idea why, but I have asked the question.

Has to be paper move to take advantage of the NYPL’s roster rules. I wouldn’t put much stock in the roster listed on the Vermont website, either. For example: Jay Sferra, who led off and played CF last night for the Kalamzaoo Kings of the Frontier League and went 0-3 with a walk, is still listed as active on the Vermont roster.

Sue, I sure hope you’re right, this is one of those WTF moments. I’ve been very encouraged by his development this year.

Seems like the Nationals are tucking away more players than usual in VT/E.S.T. this year; I’m guessing this is just Rizzo making use of some loopholes to see additional players.

Leonard Davis was stashed on Vermont’s roster briefly. Rizzo’s probably just being cagey. Could he be thinking about promoting McGeary instead? This one’s a bit weird because it seem’s McGeary’s learning and making some progress at the right level.

McGeary is certainly making more progress than Smoker. Hopefully the cagey Rizzo theories prove correct.

McGeary should be looked at for a promotion. Smoker is terrible.

Any word on Norris who got beaned in the Potomac game? How’s he doing ?

Norris is going to be held out for two games and then they’ll reevaluate. Norris wanted to play tonight and says he feels fine. I hope he’ll be back soon. Concussions can be tricky.

Regarding McGeary – I wonder if the Nationals brass might have spotted a flaw or ‘tell’ in his delivery. That might explain shifting him down to EST / VT for some work, rather than letting word get out in the League.
