Dan Nelson, Carolina League Player of the Week


For the fifth straight week, the Nationals had a minor leaguer selected as a Hitter or Pitcher of the week. Joining the list for the week of July 20-26 is util player Dan Nelson. The 25-year old Nelson batted 0.391 and slugged 0.739 over five games this week with four doubles, two triples, and eight RBI.

Nelson joins the list with Potomac teammate Chris Marrero (last week), Hagerstown 2B Stephen Lombardozzi (two weeks ago), former Potomac teammate Brad Meyers (three weeks ago), and Syracuse RHP Garrett Mock & Harrisburg LHP Jack Spradlin (four weeks ago).

Note: The Eastern League had not named their batter or pitcher of the week as of 11AM

    AlexVA – Back from a couple threads: you are right about Smoker. I thought he’d been getting beaten around this year but was clearly wrong. Thanks for clarifying.
