The Nationals released RHP Gary Glover from Syracuse.
The P-Nats added RHP Cole Kimball.
The Suns added 1B Tyler Moore and assigned 1B Ronnie Labrie to the GCL Nationals (in essence sending him to extended spring training).
All the affiliates now have full rosters, but the Chiefs will need to make an opening for LHP Mike Hinckley assuming he sticks with the organization.

Have we seen the last of Hinckley in the majors?

Norris was pulled after 2ABs in Hagerstown last night (teammates appeared to be congratulating him) and is out of the lineup today. Speculation was that he has been called up - any inside dope?

Speaking of roooster shake ups, Marrero has not been in the lieup lately. Any news?

Watch Fleming pick up Hinkley for Fish. Always curious on draft day to see how many LHP’s an org drafts along with how many Texas school NCAA get plucked.

I was in NC for work on Friday and went to the P-Nats game at Winston-Salem. In the sixth or seventh, Marrero hit a towering pop foul. It ended up blowing back towards the field, and the W-S first baseman dropped it about a foot into foul territory. Marerro never left the batters box. Trent Jewett was coaching third base and immediately said “Chris, sit down.” He pinch-hit Tim Pahuta with an 0-2 count (he ended up singling). I suspect if he had a day off, it might have been due to that.
Observation 2 from that game: What does Erik Arnesen have to do to get the “prospect” tag? He throws strikes (only 7 walks in 32.1 innings this year), works efficiently, has a good curve as an out pitch. Most importantly, he just wins games. He’s maybe a year or two old for high-A, but with the pitching situation in Harrisburg, seems like he should get a chance to try a higher level.

During the pregame show today, Rizzo was interviewed and said they were at USC yesterday to watch a “college player”. I’m assuming it’s Grant Green. Ownership came to both games.
The latest I’ve seen is that the Giants like Green and if he’s gone it will probably be Zach Wheeler. The Braves really like Matzek and have been following him around.
If the above is true, I’m wondering if Tate will be there at #10. I don’t see Cincinnati taking him and Detroit seems to really like Turner.
You can spread the bonus over several years with Tate since he’s a FB player.
I don’t think it’s likely, but the idea of Hood-Tate-Ramirez in the Hagerstown OF in 2010 is nice.
I don’t know, but right now I’m thinking it will be Purke or Miller at #10. I wish I could figure out the Reds though. I read that they like Wheeler, but he’ll likely be gone.

Balaester pitched on 7th vs. Gwinett. What day should he pitch in Indy series in Indy????

NG, thanks for the observation. Arnesen is 25 years old, was picked 511th overall in 2006 and unfortunately, may not get chances to move up

For speculation on Hinckley, last year Mike’s wife and daughter sat with the Marlin’s either GM or Ass’t GM last September.
Talked with Mike’s wife, she’s a sweetheart and their daughter adorable. Hope the best for the Hinckley family.

wow! my gut instinct is pretty good. last year I thought the Nats should consider Larry Broadway return to his Duke form and pitch some…..PITT has him in bullpen @ Indy….pitched an IP vs. Chiefs Sunday.

…in a 12-2 game after the bullpen had pitched 14.2 innings in less than 72 hours.

Rumor has it that Arneson is being called up today. Good observation NG
