Man!! I can’t believe Michael Burgess just might live up to the hype. And what can I say about Derek Norris. He produces at every level he has been. My God!! Norris and Harper in the same farm system. It’s a great time to be a Nats fan.

And a shout out to Dan Rosenbaum.

The next three series ought to be a better bellwether for Burgess, as those are the top three pitching staffs in the Carolina League. That said, Burgess is starting to turn on the ball again and even stole a base this past homestand.
Norris is as advertised, but I doubt Rizzo will do anything but keep him at Potomac all year long.

Another thing. I find it funny that there were somethings being written about Eury Perez not being able to hit anymore. He’s been hitting well in his last couple of games.
#5 by Scott - May 17th, 2010 at 09:04
Again, what are we learning from letting Rosenbaum go all polished college pitcher on the Sally League?
#6 by Brian Oliver - May 17th, 2010 at 09:06
Problem is who does he replace in Potomac. There needs to be an opening there for him
#7 by Ronny - May 17th, 2010 at 09:18
Hey Brian. Is Lombardozzi the Nats future lead-off hitter?
#8 by Brian Oliver - May 17th, 2010 at 09:20
Not sure I see that. He looks like a solid utility infielder moving forward.
#9 by Chris - May 17th, 2010 at 09:24
Yep. There’s no reason to rush Norris. Let him spend all year at Potomac and all of next year at Harrisburg (assuming he merits promotion) and by 2012 he’ll be 23 and ready for the bigs – or he could spend a year in ‘Cuse.

Robinson Fabian seems better suited to middle relief. I’ve only seen him pitch twice as a starter, but both times he was knocked around hard in the 2nd inning once he showed what he had that night.

How does Eury Perez not have more doubles?? Last year, of his 69 hits, he had 3 2B, 5 3B, 3 HR. This year, of his 29 hits, he has 27 singles, 1 3B and 1 HR. Doesnt make any sense to me
#12 by Chris - May 17th, 2010 at 10:44
Eury doesn’t have much gap power right now – not sure if he ever will. Going from three to zero isn’t that much of a decline , especially when you consider he’s had 1/2 the amount of hits.
#13 by cjrugger - May 17th, 2010 at 10:51
Yeah I figured that, but was just suprised to see he couldnt find some doubles down the line or strech a few balls in the gap into doubles, esp over the course of 300 ABs
#14 by Scott - May 17th, 2010 at 11:32
Agreed about Fabian, I’m not sure what we’re gaining by letting a 24-year old non-prospect start games at Potomac while Rosenbaum treds water in the Sally League.
#15 by Scott - May 17th, 2010 at 11:32
Then again, I guess there’s nothing wrong with letting guys flourish. There’s always room for 27-year old rookie 5th starters.
#16 by Sec314 - May 17th, 2010 at 13:05
So what’s the deal with “hero” Tyler Moore? Is he a real prospect? Waiting on Chris Marrerro does not seem like a viable strategy.
#17 by Souldrummer - May 17th, 2010 at 13:29
@Sec314 They certainly are going to give Marrero a whole year to show that he can do something in AA. It’s a mystery to me what’s happened to him this year. I could see him not developing on the hype but it’s like he’s gone backwards this year or something.
