It’s tough to see a great kid like Bally struggle like he has this year. It has to be mental with him because he has the stuff to dominate AAA hitting.

Brian – Is it that Bally is getting hit because he is missing his spots (technique) or is his stuff completely off?

Bally needs to stop thinking about “how good his mustache” looks and focus on throwing strikes. Besides, with his limited repertoire of pitches, he’s better suited to be a relief pitcher. Why the Nats organization hasn’t converted him to one yet, is totally beyond me.

To improve, Bally has to 1) stop looking at himself in the mirror 2) shave off that cheesy looking mustache 3) focus on the batter in front of him, instead of thinking about who’s on deck 4) throw more first pitch strikes 5) not be afraid to let his defense catch the ball behind him, and lastly 6) he needs to grow up and stop acting like life is all about him.

I agree on all your points except the stache. Keep the stache. The stache has powers.

cjrugger Thanks for the update. McGeary’s starts are almost as important as Strasburg’s for me because he’s got to be one of the few guys with 1/2 upside in the system if the lights go on at some point. If he can get up to Potomac soon and perform, we will have to give Bowden some credit and it maybe it will help convince ownership to go aggressive with future drafts.

Brian: Any back story on why Martin was skipped in the rotation for SYR this week?

Strasburg turns Reading into Road Kill. 5iP, 5K maybe 6K, 0BB 0H. Faced 16 batters due to a passed ball on his final strikeout. One ball held in the park possibly due to the wind. Got to wait for the arbitration clock, I suppose but the man is beyond ready.
