Baseball America has an updated list of minor league transactions. The ones of note are:
- Signed: RHP Joel Peralta … Peralta is a 33-year old RHRP. He’s spent the last five seasons witht eh Angels, Royals, and Rockies; seems a candidate for the bullpen
- Released: RHP Steven Stewart, RHP Federico Tanco, C Chris Solis, SS James Keithley … Stewart was an undrafted free agent who spent the past two seasons in Vermont; Tanco has pitched primarily in relief for the Nationals, spending the 2009 season in Vermont; Solis was a 2008 27 round draft pick who has primarily served as a backup catcher spending the 2009 season in the GCL; Keithley was a 2008 38th round draft pick who has served primarily in the utility IF role spending the 2009 season with Hagerstown

Adios to our (maybe the one and) only Argentinian prospect, Senor Tanco.

The acquisition of Marquis to the Big Club gives the orginization something else to consider – the 40-man roster is now full. Every additional player acquired will need a corresponding DFA/Outright release. With the Nationals currently at 15 position players & 25 pitchers, I’d have to think the projected SYR & HAR staffs will take some hits between now & spring training.

The Nats are adding complimentary players, should make the team “better” in the short run, but neither Pudge, nor Marquis will be difference makers. The future will be the “young uns” and potential draftees next year.
