Massachusetts’ Mitchell Clegg is another lefty with good size (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) and fringy stuff. Clegg pitches with a high-80s fastball and a decent changeup that he uses to get some swings and misses. He could be a solid senior sign in the 12-to-15-round range. … from BA

Righthander Dustin Crane, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder at Snead State CC, hit 95 mph with his fastball and sat at 91-92. A fourth-year sophomore, Crane turns 23 in August, having missed time due to 2007 Tommy John surgery. He throws a curveball, slider and changeup as well.

Brian – Thanks as always. Great job and much obliged!

Great Job Brian. From my count we drafted 6 LHP, 14 RHP, 1 2B, 6 SS, and one each of RF, LF, 1B & 3B in the first 30 rounds with 21 college and 10 HS. How many of them plus tomorrow’s 20 picks will sign & play in the farm system this year? Last year was a low signability and in 2007 we were quite successful.
#16 by RD exposfan - June 10th, 2009 at 21:02
I miscounted 23 college and 8 HS players.
#17 by Mike Breault - June 11th, 2009 at 06:40
In Rd 23 Kyle Breault is a SS from Northville MI not TX. He played in So California until his Senior year then moved to MI to have fine senior season.
#18 by New Nats Fan - June 11th, 2009 at 06:44
Kyle Breault played Varsity baseball for 3 years in soCal as a starter and had been sought by many major league teams. This season he shattered several Northville HS records including home runs with 9, stolen bases with 40 and a 44 year old triples record of 4 Kyle had 10 triples. He’s excited to be with the nats.
#19 by RD - June 11th, 2009 at 11:32
Mr. Breault, Im assuming you are his father. First off congrats, it has to be a great feeling. Just curious, is your son interested in signing or is he locked in on college?
#20 by Mike Breault - June 14th, 2009 at 17:25
He’s considering signing. He played last summer on a Dodger’s scout team and beat out 4 senior shortstops to start all summer. Although he could still use a couple more years to develop his size and strength, he really wants to get busy learning at the major league level. So, if the situation is right, he’ll sign and play.
