Clap it up he needs a reality check…Wonder how this affects Maxwell, Bernadina, Pattersons playing time. My guess is Pattersons released and Maxwell goes to play AA(not really a demotion im my eyes since both leagues are similar)

    I knew this was coming.

Wonderful! Addition by subtraction. I guarantee our winning percentage will not decrease.

    let’s play two!

hopefully this serves as a wake up call for Milledge.

I don’t see an outfielder being added right now. I would expect that this opens up the additional at bats for Willingham and Kearns with the hope tha tone of them will play their way into trade material. If I’m wrong I would guess Patterson since he will be on the bench most of the time and that does Maxwell and Bernadina no good.

I’ll go one better than SP63 and predict that our winning percentage will increase by hundreds of points by the end of the week (unless it rains).

Maybe Lastings can go down and decide if he wants to be a big-league ballplayer or not. Right now, he doesn’t seem to know.

I would think it would be Roger-Milledge-JMax left to right in Syracuse.

I would assume this moves Dukes to CF fulltime and Kearns to right.

John - You are probably right, but I do wonder if the CF experiment should be scrapped.

You mean with Milledge? I’d be in favor of that. You could swap him and Bernadina. Who knows how he’ll react to all of this though.

I thought Cintron might be brought up to help with the MI situation, but that would require a move on the 40-man. With Zimmermann needing a spot on the 40-man soon, it probably makes more sense to bring up someone already on the roster.

Dmitri Young can be moved to the 60-day DL and I would imagine one of the backup catchers could be outrighted if the plan is to add Cintron and Zimmermann

I’m guessing Cintron is up. Why bring up another OFer when you traded for a guy who only has something like 7 appearences. Guzman might be hitting the DL, so that could make it be Bernadina and Cintron for Cristian. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, JimBo isn’t around to protect him now. Shape up or ship out!

Lastings has looked terrible so far this season, so I’m relieved to see the team give more playing time to guys like Kearns and Willingham. In addition to his slumping bat, he is terrible defensively.

  15. #15 by Berndaddy - April 14th, 2009 at 14:38

Brian I think you’re right on the mark. Cintron is hot right now in AAA and didn’t look bad in camp. Zimm’nn is coming. Put Young on DL60. That way when or if they’re looking at flipping Willingham or Johnson they’ll have back up ready to go in a couple of months. Patterson is never going to see the major leagues in a Nats uni. He should be gone with these moves. Bard is expendable as well. Man that sounds so cool. I like what Nieves gives us behind the plate. In the end we’ll need a defensive replacement over fishy defense and an OK bat.

Let’s hope the rest works it’s way out.

    It’s good to hear Leatherman’s coming back. I pray he’ll find peace…

I meant that sounds cold. I’m sure Bard will land somewhere.

Good, he needs a wakeup call

  18. #18 by Pilchard - April 14th, 2009 at 15:26

Why doesn’t the .158 hitting Austin Kearns need a wake-up call?

Who goes down when Jordan Zimmerman comes up this weekend?

  19. #19 by Pilchard - April 14th, 2009 at 15:27

Also, if Cintron comes up who plays CF when Dukes pulls a hammy or gets tossed from a game?

  20. #20 by Brian - April 14th, 2009 at 16:10

Pilchard - Because Milledge has options left and Kearns would have to agree to such a move (he has the service time to have that choice).

Willie Harris is the guy I’d guess is Dukes’ backup.

  21. #21 by Pilchard - April 14th, 2009 at 16:39

    Brian,

My comment was sarcastic. It just bothers me the way that Kearns continues to get a pass after continuing to be the worst offensive-corner OF in MLB.

Isn’t Harris on the DL now? It’s a stretch to think that Dukes will play every inning in the OF until Harris comes off the DL IMO.

Brian- I agree with the call to move D.Young to the 60-day. You could replace him on the 40-man with Cintron (if Guzman’s hammy is bad enough for a 14-DL stint), or with JZMM if not. MIlledge gets replaced on the 25-man by Bergmann, if the FO has any sense.

Bernadina got called up to replace Milledge.

  24. #24 by DJ - April 15th, 2009 at 09:54

The Nats are the most pathetic organization in all of sports if they call up Bernadina to replace Milledge. That’s just down right stupid.
