Potomac fell 8-5 to Winston-Salem on a cold & damp evening in Woodbridge (box/gamer). RHP Jason Marquis made his first rehab start and looked very hittable. I believe this may be the first time in my life I’ve read the phrase “snow-shortened” related to a baseball game.

Mike Rizzo was not at the PNats game, because he was at the Mets game taking pictures with me. Tried to get some answers out of him (Strasburg call up and Harper) but he was very coy. Good guy though

I’d post my link to LNIW, but Brian saw what I saw and nailed it. About the only thing I’d add is that the Burgess double was the first one off a RHP that was pulled a la Mike in ‘08/’09 fashion.

Jason Maqruis still isn’t right. I’d bet he goes under the knife sooner rather than later.

So why is Morse still languishing at Syracuse when the big club desperately needs his bat?

@Sue I wish you’d post the links here anyways. It’s a luxury this year to have an additional perspective on the Nats Farm system, especially on yesterday’s big start for Marquis.

Any word from the organization on their assessment of his effort?

@TOSD – LNIW link in my name, but Robert Daski got the story that you’re after: http://bit.ly/d5Acxh

@Sue Thanks for this one. I’ll be posting this one around some of the other blogs that I check out because that’s the kind of info I think that we’re after. A lot of folks are more about the box score and it doesn’t look so good, but we know that it’s stuff that matters just as much. My biggest problem is that the guy was saying that he was ready on Saturday to take Lannan’s slot and ends up giving up runs in high A. Truly foolish looking stuff. He needs to just keep quiet and focus on getting well.

And just like that, Zuck says Marquis needs surgery.
