Sunday

  • Syracuse defeated Rochester 4-2 in 13 innings on a two-run walk-off homer by DH Josh Whitesell (box). It was his only hit of the game (1/4) but he made it count. CF Roger Bernadina was 3/6 with a runs scored; LF Eric Bruntlett was 1/5 with a walk & run scored; RF Kevin Mench was 1/6; 3B Chase Lambin was 1/5 with a solo homer; and CA Carlos Maldonado was 2/5 with a double. RHP Andrew Kown started for the Chiefs, allowing a run on four hits & three walks over 6IP with two strikeouts and RHP Andrew Brown picked up the win in relief, allowing just one hit and two walks over three scoreless innings while striking out four.
  • Harrisburg’s game with New Britain was postponed by rain. A makeup date has not been announced.
  • Potomac had a walk-off win of their own with SS Jose Lozada providing the game-winning two-run home run in a 6-4 10-inning win over Lynchburg (box). Lozada was 2/5 with four total RBI; LF Robby Jacobsen was 3/4 with two doubles & two runs scored; 2B Stephen Lombardozzi was 2/5 with a double & run scored; RF Michael Burgess was 0/4; and CA Tyler Weeden was 2/3 with a run scored.
  • LF Destin Hood had four RBI in an 8-6 win over Delmarva (box). Hood was 2/3 with a double; 3B Steve Souza was 1/3 with a walk, a stolen base & three runs scored; 1B Justin Bloxom was 2/4 with a run scored; and CF Eury Perez was 0/2 with a walk, a run & two stolen bases. RHP Trevor Holder made the start for the Suns, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk thile striking out three; LHP Glenn Gibson earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three; and RHP Dean Weaver closed the door striking out the only batter he faced with a runner at second base.

  • Harrisburg RHP Stephen Strasburg (2-0, 0.73) at Reading (TBA) 6:35PM

  • Delmarva (TBA) at Hagerstown LHP Jack McGeary (1-0, 6.43) 6:35PM

    Looks like they decided to move Aaron Thompson back to Harrisburg when they outrighted Bergmann to Syracuse.

    The model still remains: veteran depth for the most part: Syracuse. Promising prospects almost major league ready: Harrisburg

    I wonder if that will change?

    @Andrew F. – Just when I thought Burgess was learning to go with the outside pitch, he’s reverted to form by flailing at the soft-and-away pitches with two strikes. Lefties aren’t kryptonite thus far, but I haven’t seen him hit anything close to a HR – remember one of those four doubles was a windblown popup!
