has arrived and I have another prospect guide to add to the rotation.
Quick hit from last year’s list
- Five have ‘graduated’ to the majors/used up rookie eligibility (Zimmermann, Detwiler, Mock, Martis, & Stammen)
- Seven have dropped out (Smiley, Davis, Rhinehart, King, Smoker, Willems, & Van Allen)
- Three no longer in organization (Hinckley, Terrell Young & Montz)
That’s half the list turning over with five added from 2009 draft.
(And this year’s #18, Marco Estrada, is now with Milwaukee).

All in all, then, are we to consider the set of 25 (24 now) as better because of the turnover?

Honestly? Mixed bag. Eleven starters and five relievers ranked among the top 30 (12 SPs if you include the bonus guy). But at the end of the day, not sure how many of those 12 remain as SPs. Conservatively estimate that half of the SPs turn into RPs and you are seeing 5-6SPs in the top 30 and realistically Strasburg is the only front line guy.
And that’s just the arms.

Smoker and Willems have injury issues, I wish we knew what they were. Here’s hoping Graham Hicks turns around too, his dad was a valuable addition to our community.
