I see that a Syracuse newsline is reporting that Chiefs’ hitting coach Darnell Coles is leaving to become the director of the Twins’ minor league hitting instruction. Do you have any additional insights on what the Nats will do about the Chiefs’ managing/coaching or other minor league coaching?
I just noticed that Jamie Burke and Padilla were outrighted to Syracuse on 10/22 by the Nats. I’m assuming that also means they were removed from the 40-man roster.
Neither Padilla nor Burke are on the roster. By my count there are 44 players on the Nats’ MLB roster (6 of those are on the 60 day DL). Not sure how 60 day DLers are treated now that the season is over. Also, at least following players will become free agents on Nov. 13:
Pilchard: Thanks for the info. I was trying to figure out when a team announces a player on the 40-man roster is “outrighted” to a minor league affiliate does that mean is automatically removed from the 40-man.
Wow, that is way more information than I can process in one sitting.
Line-ups are up for AFL game today, Marrero is DHing.
Anyone heard what Espinoza’s status is?

RLF – We should (hopefully) hear some news about the minor league managers & coaches some time in November/December.
Losing Darnell Coles is not good. He does a great job, and relates well to the players. I hate to see him go, but wish him the best.
