Storen to Harrisburg

Last night, Drew Storen posted on his Twitter account that he was on his way to Harrisburg today. The Senators are scheduled to play a game in Binghamton, NY today so hopefully he got the right schedule and is on his way a bit further north. Update: Per his mother, he is scheduled to be on the bus from Harrisburg to Binghamton this morning

This will be the third stopover for the #10 overall pick in this year’s draft.

This is fantastic, while we lost a Zimmerman(n), we are reminded that the Nats still got some good arms with Strasburg soon to join (fingers crossed).

I’m thinking he’s in Harrisburg till the end of the month, and if he doesn’t get knocked around too badly, he’s on the 40-man and up in the September callups.

What’s his inning count (total for both Stanford in the system) up to, anyway?

Marc – 49.2IP at Stanford; 14.2IP in Hagerstown; 10IP in Potomac

Brian,Will the Nats org. try to make a starter out of Storen or is his future in the bullpen?

    Brian,

Any chance we can have Drew Storen do a three way phone call with Aaron Crow and Stephen Strasburg so that Crow and Storen can explain to Strasburg that it is easier, more lucrative, and more fun to sign and play?

Too bad I missed him in Potomac. Tried to catch the P-Nats 3 times with him on the roster but they couldn’t manage a close game.

Congratulations Drew! Please ease some of our J-Zimm pain.

Russ- That sounds like a great idea.

He’s about as MLB ready as Ryan Zimmerman was at the same time frame.

    You called his mother?

    She “tweets” as well

Somewhat related to the idea of calling up Storen: had the Nats not promoted Jordan Zimmerman to the MLB roster, he would not be accumulating MLB service time for free agency and arbitration while sitting out the next 12 to 18 months after having Tommy John surgery.

While I hope that the same fate does not befall Drew Storen, there is nothing to be gained by giving Storen a September call-up just so he can pitch in a couple meaningless late-season games. Got to believe that now that Bowden is gone, the front office is disciplined enough to keep Storen from starting his MLB service clock when the Nats are playing out the string.

Pilchard – The only thing we have to keep in mind is that often times, the college guys drafted early will get called up in September per some agreement at the time of their deal.

If that was the case, I understand, but the Nats had the leverage in the Storen negoitations as he was not projected to go as high as 10. Would be disappointed if the Nats made such an agreement given the circumstances.

The every bit as meaningful question is along with Storen’s promotion, who goes down off the HAR roster?

Storen and Nanita to active Sens roster. Veloz to Potomac and Everts to Syracuse. We now stand at a full 24-man rosters.
