With Zimmermann, Detwiler, Lannan, and hopefully Strasburg penciled in the future rotation, it seems like we could package an arm or 2 between Martin, Martis, Stammen, Olsen, Balester, Willems, Smoker, McGeary, etc. to get some talent. We seem to have plenty of back of the rotation depth.

Martin was a minor league free agent signing. He could have signed with anyone (well, in theory) this offseason and he chose the Nationals. Not sure if a team will be interested in trading for him. He’s a free agent again at the end of the season.

Congrats the the SYR players who made the IL All-Star team. Sadly, Rizzo will need to move all three of them out of the orginization before the trading deadline, or lose them to FA in 2010, since none of them belong on the 25/40-man roster in WSH .

You could get a bag of ball for all three of them.

What do theyhey all have in common? Neither of them is on the 40 man roster. What does that have to say about the Nats’ player development?

The guys can see Mike out in Portland.
