The first game of the DSL Championship between the DSL Nationals1 and Giants was postponed by rain. No word yet on how it will be made up, but I’ll guess a doubleheader tomorrow is a consideration.

The GCL Nats got swept by the GCL Phillies on Sunday, losing the opener 5-4 (McGeary gave up six hits in a row to start the decisive five-run fourth) and failing to compete in the rubber match (a 9-0 loss in which we managed only three hits and sent guys named Frias, Demny, Gill and Dill to the mound, none of whom were effective). The lone bright spot: Two of the three hits belonged to Smiley Gonzalez, who hit .438 during the GCL playoffs after winning the regular season batting title with a .350 average.

For some reason, at work, I didn’t see any posts after Saturday. Hence, my belated update above. As usual I’m behind the curve (which is also why I couldn’t hit Pony League pitching, incidentally).
