The P-Nats have an article online that describes a process most of us know very little about, the role of host families for minor leaguers. Lamar Boone of the Potomac Nationals Booster Club spearheads the effort of helping players find a place to stay during their time in Woodbridge.
It’s an interesting process and provides several families with a chance to not only help out the players but also get to know many of the future Nationals.

Brian,
Looks like Baseball Register by Sporting News will no longer be published. There are electronic alternatives but the Cube is a little cumbersome if you try to get to know a team’s players and stats before going to a game, for example, or just easily look up a player as you read the box scores. Do you know of anything in book form that gives you major and minor league stats of a player, and all the transactions? If not, what is the best e-source?

Baseball America has a few products. The Directory and Almanac.
Aside from that, I’d use Minors Baseball Reference though it doesn’t (presently) have the draft information along with the Cube.

Host Families: No doubt Lamar and Dottie Boone’s dedication to “the minor league experience” have made playing for the P-Nats one of the best experiences for the players and their families.
